Grant Middle School

Please join us tomorrow, Saturday, August 24 from 10am-1pm at GMS for a peace walk with the Faith Coalition for the Common Good Educational Task Force. Please see the attached flyer for details! We look forward to partnering with the community surrounding Grant Middle School.

Semester 1 students will start dressing out for PE starting Monday, August 26. Athletic shirt, shorts, socks, and shoes. Shorts have to be at least a 5 inch inseam and no spandex or yoga pants. If you would like to purchase a PE uniform, shirts and shorts are available for $10 each ($20 for both). .

Today, around 2:30 p.m., Springfield Police responded to a disturbance near the 500 block of Douglas, an area frequented by some of our student walkers. As a precaution, we temporarily held students who typically walk in that direction during dismissal. Once we received the all-clear from Springfield Police, those students were released. The safety of our students is our highest priority and we value open communication with our families.

Calling all 6th grade girls! 6th Grade Girls Basketball tryouts will be on 8/26 and 8/27 in the gym from 4:00 to 5:15. Girls will need tennis shoes in order to tryout. See Mr. Goss with any questions.

Attention Grant families there will be cross country practice until 4:00 today 8/21/24. They will be able to ride the activity bus at 4:15 if they need transportation!

GMS families, Boys and Girls Cross Country tryouts/practice will be Tuesday from 2:30 to 4:00! Meet Coach Lee in the all-purpose room! We welcome students of all ability levels to join! There will be an activity bus at 4:15 for students needing transportation home.

The GMS/FMS boys baseball team kicked off the season with a 6-1 victory over Riverton. Great job boys!

Softball families due rain Saturdays game has been moved to Rotary Park. There will be an A game and a B game vs. Greenville. The girls need be at the field by 9AM. The first game begins at 10AM once again at Rotary Park!

Today's first GMS/FMS Baseball Game to kickoff the 2024 season vs Virginia has been CANCELLED due to weather. There is not practice today.

Just a friendly reminder that every student MUST register each year! If you have a returning student, you will need to provide 1 (one) proof of residency within the last 30 days. If you are a new student/family you will need to provide 3 (three) proofs of residency. If your child is attending a different school. no worries. Complete the registration online and we can get that information to their new school for you! School starts MONDAY, so please make sure registrations are complete as soon as possible!

We are working to get neighborhood and community vendors for families to connect with while also giving our families an opportunity to meet your student's teachers! Grant Middle School families, please check your email to see your new morning car rider and walker drop off/ entrance transportation plan for the 2024-2025 school year. This is brad new for both and we need families to familiarize yourself with the plan. The plan is also posted on our website.

Congrats to the boys who made it through the first cut for baseball. The following list will meet at SHS tomorrow (8/7/24) at 4pm-6pm for a practice.
