We want to bring an important safety concern to your attention. Due to several vehicle accidents in front of our building during student drop-off and pick-up times, we are asking for everyone’s cooperation in keeping students, families and staff safe.
All car riders must use the west parking lot (the large lot next to our field) for student drop-off and pick-up. Dropping off or picking up students on Monroe Street, including double parking, is not permitted due to safety concerns.
Springfield Police officers will have an increased presence during drop-off and pick-up times to help manage traffic and support safe travel around the school. Drivers may be asked to continue moving rather than stop or park along Monroe street. We again ask that you follow the car rider pick-up and drop-off lot procedures.
Student safety depends on everyone following established traffic and crossing procedures. Students must use designated crosswalks and follow the directions of crossing guards when crossing the street. Failure to follow these procedures can create serious safety and security concerns for our school community. We appreciate your attention to these expectations and your continued partnership in keeping all students safe.

MIDDLE SCHOOL WRESTLING: Open mats for middle school wrestling are canceled for the next two weeks. We will resume on Tuesday, November 3rd. An updated calendar is on the middle school wrestling website.

Parent Conferences this week! Thursday is open-house style (no appt, needed) from 5pm-8pm. Friday by appt. only 8am-2pm. Teachers have sent info via this app for scheduling or email for a time.

Thank you to all of the families that came to support out GMS Skate Night! We were able to raise $249!!! This will go back to the school and the students! If you missed this one, we will have another one this spring!
Attendance is key and we miss you when you aren't here!! Our school goal is 95% each week. Last week we increased from 91% to 94%!!! The grade level that meets the attendance goal each week will receive an extended lunch hour!

What a great week we had last week! Students worked hard on their first MAP test of the year to show what they know! Everyone looked great for Picture Day (don't worry, if you missed it, a retake date will be sent out soon), and our Back to School Dance was a hit and dance moves were shared by both staff and students!
Here's what this week looks like-
Monday- MAP testing concludes. Please make sure Chromebooks are charged tonight!
Wednesday- our first home girl's basketball game!
Thursday- Popcorn Thursday- sold for $1 at lunch and GMS Skate Night @ Skateland South from 6-8 for GMS students and their families only. If siblings are coming, a parent/guardian must accompany them for the entire time please. (See flyer attached).
